Race for the Cure
In celebration of Aunt Donna and Judy's (Jill's Mom) battle and WIN against breast cancer, we all participate in the Race for the Cure at the fairgrounds in Syracuse. It was supposed to pour rain today, but somehow... it was a beautiful day again. According to Aunt Donna, since she had cancer, she can request good weather days as part of her reward for going through such a battle!! We always laugh about it... but it seems to work! Hopefully next year BJ and Collin can race in the Kids for the Cure race like Alex and Luke did this year... they did so well- Luke beat Jeremy across the finish line, so he thought that was great (when the announcer said "looks like he's gonna beat ya, Dad!" when they crossed) Alex ran with his Grandma Judy, who was the 1st survivor to finish the one mile race. (ten minutes- not bad!) Then we all walked the 5K- the babies strolled, of course. You'd think chasing three kids would be enough exercise to be in shape enough to WALK 3 miles, but I was pretty tired! Aunt Donna ran with the kids for a while, and Uncle Gary ran the race then came back around to walk again with us!! It's always a fun day- but best of all- because of these runs and people coming together, times have changed and technology has improved... and we still have our loved ones. Aunt Donna is not only my aunt, but one of my best friends--and I don't know what I would do without her!!!
